Value - Paula Swett

I finished week one and have now completed 6 colors or 12 wheels from for this week. I decided that I would wheel all 12 colors but did not realize at that outset how long each would take.  I will finish the other 6 as I find this to be a very valuable and enjoyable exercise and know that I will refer often to these wheels.

After the fourth color I realized that when I painted a color to black I needed to paint each shade twice to block out the white  that would peak through the color with the black added.  I used a hairdryer to speed dry the space so that I could apply the second layer of paint.

I realized I am not very good at painting within the black lines but worked on that on the last two colors . I found I needed two brushes to accomplish this, the pointed and the flat.

Purple was difficult when adding black and five colors looked the same so I redid that wheel.  I now truly understand what you meant when you said they (color wheels) get better each time.

I saved the ends of the color wheel papers and decided to monoprint the leftover paints. This has given me opportunity to explore more about color. Lots of fun also.
